Basic techniques for
playing simple chords, melody, and using tablature will be covered.
A playable 5 string banjo, 1 plastic
thumb pick and 2 metal finger picks are required.
Bring a music stand. Music will be provided.
102 GUITAR (Beginners)—James Blitchington LIMIT

Learn basic techniques for playing
the guitar. Understanding keys, chords,
measures, and
learning how to play simple songs. Must have an acoustic guitar in playable
condition, and
one pick (either flat pick or thumb pick). Bring a music stand. Music will be provided.

have had completed beginner class. Bring
your dulcimer; we will learn how to
Play, by
ear learn simple tunes and jam chords.
104 LINE DANCING (Beginners)—Bill

Basic
steps and easy line dances will be taught. No prior experience. Come and have fun and
exercise while dancing with us.

chair! Learn to weave cane seats for
chairs and stools. Individual
instruction. All work done in class. Stool frames available for purchase before
the first class.

locker hook, canvas and fabric strips, we will first make a hot pad to learn
the
technique, then we will make a 20”x27” rug out of the fabric
of your choice. Students will
be contacted with a supply list. Supply fee for new students $10 (add to

Returning

303 MOUNTAIN OASIS
FOLK BAND—Rosy DeVane &
MOFB is
for students who feel comfortable playing melody and/or rhythm on their
instrument.
Students
of folk instruments have the opportunity to play together as a group focusing on
listening
skills, basic rhythm and taking instrumental leads. Prerequisite:
must be able to sight read basic
chorded and tabbed music.

is for learning “practicing jam etiquette”, and the sharing of tunes. All instruments

need to know their basics and feel comfortable playing chords and scales
in common jam keys.

More autoharp with an emphasis on melody playing, rhythm techniques and
ensemble playing.
307 PLAYING THE
DULCIMER FOR FUN—Barry Malac LIMIT 10
This class
is for players who are able to play proficiently. You are required to have taken
at least three OASIS Dulcimer courses. Students need to purchase “Tunes and Ballads
for the
Mountain
Dulcimer” by Helen Johnson
